8. Can’t say enough about the staff. Everybody is friendly and helpful from the minute you walk through the door until the minute you walk out.

   I usually know what I want before I even get there so it’s usually a quick trip. However, I’ve had some questions about certain strains and was met with detailed answers with no pressure to any particular strain or product. One of the first “retail” experiences that has been entirely pleasant.

   Can’t wait to go back soon!

20. Yesterday was my 1st visit to a medical dispensary, and it was everything I’d hoped it’d be. Cathy, RN understood my condition and the type of treatment I was looking for. She explained everything to me from A to Z and matched me with a Budtender (Taz) who was so easy to talk to. I never felt pressured to hurry or foolish for asking any questions. Highly recommended!

22. being a Colorado native I was skeptical about becoming a member of a DC dispensary due to the extensive rules and regulations by the federal government. I was quite surprised to find such an awesome dispensary in Takoma that has such a warm and welcoming family atmosphere. They go above and beyond when it comes to product knowledge and customer service. I absolutely love Takoma Wellness and I plan on visiting many more times to come.

    The distinct smell of purple is distinct. The heavy lavender like aroma is relaxing on its own. Classic purp quickly hits like a warm blanket. After a few hits the high Thc helps alleviate mental stress. I enjoyed the night on the balcony with this strain. Wasn’t strong enough of an indica to put you to sleep. Just to have you physically relaxed and sitting with a permanent smile.

28. While I understand the politics going on with the grow facilities in the city, I cannot bring myself to spend the money on medication that is exorbitantly high for a product that is mediocre at best, i.e. 35% concentrates compared to >70% average in most places in Colorado/Washington.

    I lived in Denver which is taxed just as high if not higher than DC, yet their prices remain wildly lower (even recreational is cheaper in Denver!!!!) and their product is also far superior. I don’t buy the “blame the grower only” stance taken by some of the previous reviews.

    I question whether or not this is truly a compassionate venture, rather than a calculated business opportunity taken advantage of by those who could afford it.

    I probably will not return until prices drop, quality/quantity increases, and med laws change. Very disappointed.

35. I would like to say that this Dispensary is so well run and the family is so nice they bent over backwards to help with all my needs. After looking at the other two dispensary’s this is the place that i want to be at a true family atmosphere. The coffee and cookies help to soften you up after a warm greeting from the family members at the door. Stephine and Paula were great and Josh was soo helpful with getting what I needed and all of the staff was great there is so much more I could say but Ill wait till after my next visit.

48. Some of the positives of the Takoma Wellness Center are as followed. Firstly, Tazz is very good at learning what strains a pateint may benefit from. In which he bases off of past strain experiences.

    Darrel conveys a genuine interest to trying to help people and is a good source for using cannabis edibles. Further, the security guards are cool and respectable.

    Dominique is always a pleasant face and adds to the pleasant decor and environment.

    And lastly to those I missed, thank you and respects and gratitude to Mrs. Kahn and family.

70. #1 dispensary!!! Best experience ever. I was not sure what to expect on my first visit to a Medical Marijuana dispensary, but nothing could have prepared me for the most memorable moments. From the time I was greeted at the front door by professional security staff, the orientation by Cathy was excellent and so informative- ( they have a RN -who understood my condition and explained how cannabis works on the body) and the final step in the dispensary was the icing on the cake. I was introduced to all the consultants and given a tour. Halima took so much time with me and really made me feel comfortable . I give them my stamp of approval and would recommend them to all my friends and family. A #1 – healthcare at its best.

They carry a strain “Citrius Tango CBD” this strain is amazing for pain treatment.     There’s a reason Takoma Wellness Center was voted Best of DC two years in a row…because they are THE BEST!!!! I have been a patient at TW for the past several years and they are THE BEST!!! I am so glad that I selected TW for my pharmacy from the very beginning because they are THE BEST!!! First, Mama Stephanie gave me an overview of their mission to provide for the DC community in honor of her parents who suffered needlessly from health-related issues. (If only cannabis had been legal, the unnecessary suffering of our loved ones might have been thwarted). She and “The Rabbi” advocated and served the DC community for many, many years (as far back as the 1980s) in health-related ministries…and guess what? They actually care about their patients! They take great care to roll-out the red carpet for EACH and EVERY patient who crosses their door-step! No matter what your condition is or your needs are, they are THE BEST!!! Not sure what to get? 105. Bad selection. Really bad. The people are nice and I like how the store is set up. However, I’ve been a few times and the selection keeps getting worse. Last week I was told selection would be better this week. I went yesterday and it is worse than before. I was shown a list of mainly trims that they were obviously trying hard to get rid of. I like the people at Takoma. However, I won’t continue to spend my money on extremely high-priced medication if there is no improvement in the quality/quantity/variety of what is offered.

     From the sweet tangy taste , to the full body cerebral sensation, orangeade is a great hybrid for that perfect chillax ! The taste reminded me of orange jolly ranchers . The taste coming from the Tangie, made it like candy to me , but the purple punch took it to another level. the indica side took over me , and it became very relaxing . Had me sitting outside with my feet up, enjoying the orange sunset , with a little orangeade. For sativa lovers , use in small amounts . This strain is very potent

Smiles are genuine and the warmth is obvious, between the collection/artwork of colorful chamsas and the patients reading educational materials, there is famiIial environment. There is barely a wait, and if there is, there’s coffee or tea as well a restroom available. They have thought about your comfort!

     The Customer Specialists are eager to help and are full of knowledge about medical marijuana. I have always felt respected and can say that they are so patient with me.
     I am thankful to all of Takoma Wellness for the positivity & the help provided when I visit!

116. I immediately knew by the hamsas and Hebrew that I would love this place. Takoma Wellness is the epitome of professionalism and compassion. Everyone, from the security guard to the receptionist to the folks who bring out your order, is friendly, well-informed, and nonjudgmental. Unlike some of the places I’ve visited in California and Washington state, there’s no creepiness or pothead vibe. The waiting room is comfortable and full of information for caretakers and those curious about the use of cannabis as medicine. The warm, holistic approach made even some of my more conservative family members comfortable taking me in to get my medicine.

     I am being treated for a spinal cord injury and mental illness, and the fine folks of TW were able to help me find the best strains and applications for day- and night-time treatment of both–even recommending cheaper products than the ones I was considering if they thought they would be better for me. I went in already very knowledgeable about the use of cannabis for treating some of my conditions, but I ended up learning more and am excited to try out the plethora of product they have to offer.

     I’m so glad I chose TW as my dispensary, and will certainly be renewing with them when it’s time to re-up my green card.

117. I have been a patient of Takoma Wellness for two years. I am very frustrated with them. At the beginning, it was a small program, and the prices were very high, but they would go out of their way to help you select a medically appropriate medicine, and to help you find a physician and get your card.

     Now they serve many more patients and the service is brusque and I feel like I am imposing on them.

     Having to look over what’s on the receipt in order to get what I purchase is a time-consuming, awkward, and un-needed step.

     When I call them now, as I did about my medical card renewal, nobody answered the phone, nobody returned my voicemails.

     When I had trouble renewing my card, an employee snarkily suggested I could just stop being in the program altogether.

     Their prices are the highest in the country for medical marijuana and I am sick of making excuses for high prices and abrupt service.

     I am taking my business elsewhere. They don’t seem to care about losing patients anyways now that they have expanded.

129. Without a doubt Takoma Wellness Center is the gold standard of what a Washington DC Medical Marijuana dispensary ought to be. This store is not only locally owned but you do business with the Kahn family daily when you enter the dispensary. They are the most warm and engaging people you could ever meet at a dispensary and and went a long way toward making me feel comfortable buying my cannabis in an actual store with a real receipt.

     The price for quality can’t be beat in the District. It’s a shame that in DC you have to pick and choose, by loyal or leave, but even if I could shop at any of the District’s shops I don’t think I’d want to go anywhere else. I’ve always felt pretty good when I smoked weed but coming to Takoma was the first time I actually felt good about getting it.

     However, as far as retail experiences go, it was quite pleasant. Very friendly and engaged staff. Seemed knowledgeable about their medicine and were adamant about a careful, methodical process to find strains and dosages that will be helpful.

     Still have some reservations about whether medicinal cannabis is right for me (and am skeptical that it is this all-powerful panacea some on the internet would have you believe), but I feel more comfortable exploring this possibility with attentive and compassionate caregivers like Takoma Wellness Center to help guide me through this process. It’s easy to see why they have such a sterling reputation.

132. First of all DC has a lot to learn about medicinal marijuana. Probably about 1/2 of the 6 or 7 strains I have tried in
     the past few months are worth the price. Supply has been a constant issue lately and it’s a real bummer. The vape oil is weak and the tincture is as well (for the price).

     The staff is wonderful and the location is good but the selection, quality, and reliability all leave something to be desired.

     Top notch customer service and atmosphere.

     The inventory is completely decided by the licensed growers in the District, which are heavily regulated. Can’t blame these guys when there’s a slim menu because it is out of their hands. Write to the DC DOH and tell them as a medical patient, you want more choice and tell them to allow more growhouses.

     When new menu items are available, Takoma usually does an excellent job updating their online menus — unlike other DC dispensaries.

This is a family-run establishment, and the love and care shines through every time I visit. 138. This place is amazing! The staff is so friendly and helpful, the products are AWESOME, it’s simply the best. I was welcomed by one of the owners who shared her family’s story with me and the background of their business. She then introduced me to Tazz. Tazz introduced me to the entire staff and gave me a thorough tour of the dispensary and all the products and services they offer. He then recommended strains specific to my and my grandma’s symptoms, from flower to oil to edibles, he knows it all! The products are exactly as described on the labels and absolutely the best experiences with medicine either of us has had. It’s been a blessing for my grandmother to have access to different options for ingesting so she can treat her symptoms without having to smoke. I left this place in pain from smiling so much and can’t wait to go back!!!

140. I’m very happy with my choice of dispensary. The employees are very nice and helpful from the minute you walk up to the front door. I’m currently being treated for a rare type of cancer – several hundred cases a year, if that, and I’m fortunate that Takoma Wellness Center is nearby. I don’t remember his name but one of the consultants helped me pick out a couple of higher CBD strains (one with no psychoactive effects) and they’re working well to reduce the pain I’ve been experiencing.

142. Awesome! From the second I got greeted by the doorman/security to the second I was walked out. I immediately felt welcomed. The registration process was super easy and fast. Then came the fun part! They were quick to get someone to help me and like I mentioned before, everything about this experience was awesome. Todd- was the gentleman that assisted me, very nice, respectful and courteous. He gave me a full Tour of the Clinic and educated me on all the kinds and effects of their products. He was very patient and had all the answers! Todd was great and very informative. I left the clinic feeling sure and happy with my purchase. I will definitely be coming back and spreading the word. Overall great experience, so happy I visited.

The owners are so kind & very caring, very knowledgeable budtenders (Tazz helped me out, took lots of time to answer questions & suggest good strains for me) & just a great place. The selection of flower here is crazy good, they were having sales which is always nice. They carry just about everything you can think of for this area. Highly recommended, even if it’s a little bit of a drive, definitely check Takoma Wellness Center out. You will not regret it 🙂
